Junble Tour
New experiences are ahead and after taking a nutritious buffet BREAKFAST, get ready for a long trek through terra firma into the Tambopata National Reserve towards LAKE SANDOVAL. Here you will understand why Madre de Dios is called the biodiversity capital of Peru, while learning about the Reserve’s conservation efforts and the lake’s formation. Navigate by dugout canoe across this mirror-like oxbow lake that is home to the endangered giant river otter (Pteronura brasiliensis), blue and yellow macaw (Ara ararauna), red howler monkey (Alouatta seniculus), black caiman (Melanosuchus niger), and one of the world’s biggest fresh water scaled fish, the paiche (Arapaima gigas).
Back to the lodge for LUNCH, and later the INKATERRA CANOPY WALKWAY & ANACONDA WALK await for you. Flight from Puerto Maldonado to Cusco
Flight to Cusco, Awanacancha, Pisac Market & Ruins
Our Tika Trekking representative will pick you up from your hotel for your private transfer to Lima airport, where he will assist you with check-in procedures for your domestic flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco, your personal guide and private driver will greet you at the airport to head straight to the Urubamba Valley – also known as the ‘Sacred Valley’. Your guide will accompany you throughout the Urubamba Valley, Cusco and Machu Picchu.
En route, stop for a short visit of Awanacancha where you will have the opportunity to see the different camelids that live in the Andes such as llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos. In Pisac experience the sights and sounds of the town’s famous market, with its variety of handcrafts and fresh produce. Continue on to the Pisac ruins. With Inca masonry of superlative quality, the stunning terracing following the contours of the mountain and superior view of the valley will leave you in awel. After lunch (own cost), check-in to your chosen hotel.

Urubamba
Today you’ll visit the fabulous town of Ollantaytambo and its archaeological sites. The town is unique in that it still preserves its original Inca plan with people living in traditional cancha enclosures once occupied by the Inca elite. The archaeological compound is a sensational sight to behold and is of great historical significance for the Incas during the Spanish Conquest: It was here that one of the greatest battles of the Conquest was fought and one of the few where the Incas defeated the Spaniards. Following your visit, transfer to Muña Restaurant for a three-course lunch in this traditional hacienda, owned and lived-in by one of the oldest land-owning families in Cusco. In the afternoon, you visit Maras, the site of the remarkable and unusual Salinas, located in the heart of the Sacred Valley. This site consists of a huge number of watered terraces that collect salt by evaporation from the saline waters that gush from an underground stream. Built in a similar way to agricultural terraces seen throughout the Andes, the Salinas have been in use since pre-Columbian times. Visually, the shining, salt-encrusted terraces are extraordinary. Nearby Maras lie the most enigmatic Inca terraces at the site of Moray. This unique site, probably used for agricultural experimentation, consists of several enormous terraced circular depressions.
This Afternoon we will board the train to the town of Machupicchu town.
- Overnight : Hotel Hatun Inti Inn Machupicchu
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch.
Machu Picchu
Guided tour at Machu Picchu
After breakfast in the morning hours you will board a bus to reach the entrance of Machu Picchu.
“Magnificence” is the only word to describe the scene, as you gaze upon the ruins of Machu Picchu. The main destination on many travellers’ lists, the ‘lost city of the Incas’ is a man-made marvel that has become a symbol for the ingenuity and prosperity of one of the most expansive empires in Latin American history. Only a century ago were the incredible ruins uncovered; a two year-excavation led by Yale archaeologist Hiram Bingham and the National Geographic Society of Washington DC allowed Machu Picchu to gain the prominence that it deserves. Its fascination is due in part to its position, high on a mountain ridge and 2,430m/7,972ft above sea level. Believed to be an Inca settlement built to control the economies of neighboring communities, it is associated with being the royal estate of Pachacuti, the great Inca who sparked the expansion of the empire. Enjoy a 2-3 hour guided visit of Machu Picchu before spending the remainder of the afternoon exploring the ruins after the majority of visitors have left the site. Following your visit, take the bus back to the town of Aguas Calientes to catch the Vistadome train (approx. 1.5hrs) back to Ollantaytambo, where a private vehicle will be waiting to transfer you by road to Cusco (approx. 2hrs) to check in to your hotel.

Important Notes:
†Water: You can fill up water bottles in all the hotels each morning before going on the tour. Tap water is not drinkable!
†Transportation: Is made by small speedboats between islands. Navigation times can take up to 3 hours due to the distance between islands and currents. We cannot control the ocean, if a swell comes in the ride can be bumpy, especially during the Garúa season (see below). If you are usually subject to motion sickness please bring parches or pills (you can also buy pills on Gala- pagos). From experience, the parches are really effective!
†To make most out of the time spent on the Galapagos Islands, early wake ups are scheduled. If you would like to spend some extra days on your own without itinerary, we will be happy to help you to book extra nights before and/or after the tour.
†This is a pretty active tour, you need to be fit (be used to hiking and swimming). Specifically, the volcano hike is demanding and the group cannot wait too long for slow hikers. If you have doubts that you cannot follow the volcano hike we recommend you to book the alternative Cabo Rosa tour. The issue is that you cannot be left behind on the tour to the volcano due to the National Park restrictions; the group has to be always accompanied by the guide.
FLIGHTS
The flight IN and OUT must be out to/of BALTRA (code GPS). Departures from this island are operated either by LATAM, TAME or AVIANCA. – Please choose a flight leaving not before 12:30 pm.

CLIMATE
Galapagos can be visited all year round. There are two seasons:
- The Garua season goes from mid-June to mid-October (more or less): the cold current of Hum-
boldt enters the island so the water is colder (around 17 degrees Celsius, wetsuit is needed), cloudy days and a small drizzle. This actually makes the climate fresher – so don’t expect all sunny days, a cooler weather for the hiking, no need of A/C or fan during the night and almost no mos- quitoes. The colder water brings more plankton and more wildlife; this is the best time of the year to spot whales during the boat transports. - The Warm season is from November to Mid-May: days can be really hot (more than 30 degrees) and the water is warm due to Panama current entering in the islands marine reserve. No need for a wetsuit, sunny days- this is the perfect season, if you need to warm up from the winter back home! Due to the tropical rains in this season, all the islands are greener. In between these two seasons would be the transition time where you can have a bit of both seasons!
TIPS: If you do not depend on kids holidays, try to travel in low season: October, February, or May: you have less people on the visitor sites and still enjoy the same
fauna and flora as the rest of the year.

ABOUT FEES:
The migration card of 20$ – subject to change, is a card that you have to buy in Quito or Guayaquil from where you will begin your journey to the islands. The counter of the “Consejo de Gobierno Galapagos” is easy to find at each airport. They will check your luggage to see if you don’t bring any forbidden food to the islands: fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, and of course animals. They will give you a tourist card that you have to return at the end of your trip. Once arrived on the islands you will have to immediately pay the National Park fee of 100$ (or 50$ if less than 12 years old). This has to be in CASH and there is NO ATM at the airport, be sure to bring cash with you! After that you get your luggage and look for a sign with your name on it outside the airport.
